2012 Virginia GA Session

As Christians, we are called upon to pray for those who rule over us (1 Tim. 2:1-2) which includes political leadership.  Civil government itself is ordained by God (Rom. 13:1) as a common grace institution for the good of all mankind.  Today marks the beginning of the 2012 session of the Virginia General Assembly.  Together with the Governor and others in the executive branch, all of the delegates and senators are gathering in Richmond right now.

The church in Virginia ought to take the opportunity this day to pray for our governing authorities in the General Assembly.  Pray that God would turn their hearts, that they would govern the Commonwealth with righteousness according to His precepts.  May the legislation they pass reflect God’s holy will and give grace to His church that we may continue to worship freely.  Above all else, let us give thanks and praise to God for His blessing and provision.
