This past Sunday I was officially installed as deacon at CRBC. In the first place, I praise God for giving me the opportunity to serve His church in this capacity. Second, I would like to thank the congregation who put their confidence in me to take on this tremendous responsibility. Indeed, I was reminded of the gravity of this responsibility when I took my vows in front of them:
The elders and my fellow deacons then laid hands on me and prayed over me:
In church history, we find one of the first ordinations of deacons in Acts 6:1-7. Later in 1 Tim. 3:8-13, the Apostle Paul provides us with the qualifications for deacons within the church. As I’ve said before, it is an honor that I was chosen for this position. My family and I are blessed beyond all measure. God, through His church, has been such a blessing to us and I pray that He will likewise use us to bless others.
I humbly ask my brothers and sisters in Christ to please keep me in prayer as I perform the tasks of this office. May the Holy Spirit give me the strength, wisdom, and discernment to continue to reflect the aforementioned biblical qualifications. May the Word of God permeate all that I teach. And finally, may all that I do glorify God above all else. Soli Deo Gloria!
